Crossing the Middle
Lazy eights and bridges that make one hand reach right across the middle of the body.
A page built round the middle of the child's body: a dashed line runs down the centre and the child sits with it in front of their tummy. A big lazy eight lies across the line, to trace round and round with one hand, and bridges join a hand on one side to a picture on the other: the left hand starts on the left and has to reach all the way over to the right, the right hand the other way. The hand to use is drawn at every start and named in the instructions, so the child does not swap hands at the middle. Choose eights, bridges or both, one hand for the whole page or the two in turn, and whether the bridges have a dotted line to follow or only the two ends.
