Finger Sequencing
Rows of left, right, both and stop to tap out in order: on pads, drums, a finger piano or in a secret code.
Rows of cues to read from left to right and tap out: the left hand, the right hand, both hands, or a stop sign that means keep still. The patterns grow down the page, from two cues taking turns to three and four, and the first repeat of each row is shaded so the pattern can be seen before it is played. On the hardest setting a stop sign turns up where the pattern would not put one, and holding back at the right moment is the challenge. Play it on the two pads, on two drums, as a finger piano (each hand's fingers numbered from the thumb, 1 to 5), or as a secret code where shapes stand for the hands and the key changes on every page. Read the first row aloud together, then let the child carry on.
