Greater or Less Than
Pairs of numbers, pictures, sums or fractions with a box for >, < or =.
A column of pairs with an empty box between them for the greater-than, less-than or equals sign. What is being compared is up to you: two numerals, two groups of pictures to count first, two sums to work out first, or two fractions. Every page is dealt a deliberate mix of all three relations, so an equals sign turns up as often as the other two — pairs picked at random almost never come out equal, and a child who never meets one learns that the box is always a beak. Equal pairs are built so the two sides are written differently, 3 + 5 against 4 + 4 rather than the same sum twice. The reminder strip at the top can be left on until the symbols stick.
