Counting Pictures
Rows or boxes of pictures to count, or a number to circle that many of.
Groups of pictures with a box to write how many. Rows keep each group on its own line, which is the easiest to count along; scattered groups put them in a box in no particular order, which is harder because the child has to keep track of what they have already counted. The other mode turns it round: the number is printed and the child circles that many pictures out of a bigger pile, which is what actually tests whether a number means a quantity. Pictures never overlap in either layout, so nothing is ambiguous.
